To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Havering-Atte-Bower Cricket Club, Havering entertained the stars of the past in
this annual fixture in memory of Roger Anderson.
Havering was honoured to welcome former Chairman, Paul Jarvis, who made a special journey from Norfolk. He umpired with
Bill Taylor, with President Brian Clay & Audrey Clay keeping score.
Mark Taylor captained the Old Boys with Eddie Wallace the Havering side.
The Old Boys won the toss and elected to bat first. Tony Pearce opened the batting with Mark Osborne and they put on 72
for the first wicket until Mark was caught by Jordan Wallace off Mitchell Walker for 33. Mark Wilkinson was next to fall
for 20, bowled by the looping offspin of Tim Hills. Dave Walcott joined Tony and it was Tony who fell next, stumped by
the ever improving Danny Keylock off Tim Hills for a fine 51. Steve Porter and Dave Walcott put on 43 with some spirited
hitting, before Steve gave himself too much room and was castled by the pace of Scott Jackson. Danny Wallace struck three
sixes in his 27, before retiring and Dave Walcott was caught and bowled by Tom Gentle to leave the Old Boys on 231-7 off
their 40 overs.
Pick of the bowlers were Tim Hills 2-17 and Mitchell Walker 2-38 with Scott Jackson, Tom Gentle and Jordan Wallace taking
one wicket each.
After a hearty tea, Havering started their reply with Adam Murray and Danny Keylock looking solid against the bowling of
Steve Porter and Neil Staff. Danny Keylock was the first to fall, caught on the boundary by Tony Pearce off the bowling
of Steve Porter, quickly followed by Adam Murray being LBW to Mark Wilkinson. With the score 83-2 off 17 overs, Havering
were struggling to keep up with the run-rate. Tom Gentle played a steady innings as wickets fell the other end, Jordan
Wallace (12) and Dev Patel (12) before missing Andy Skinners first ball to be bowled for 29 just as he was looking set.
Wickets fell at regular intervals as Scott Jackson struck 21 and was the last man out as Havering collapsed from 132-4 to
168 all out to give the Old Boys victory by 62 runs.
Pick of the bowlers were Andy Skinner 3-26, Tony Pearce 2-12 and Glen Robbins 2-37 with Steve Porter and Mark Wilkinson
taking one wicket each.
This was the first victory since the first Old Boys game 6 years ago.
Havering Old Boys won by 62 Runs.
Havering travelled to Corringham with the security that the lowest they could finish was 6th and the highest 5th.
Havering won the toss and elected to bowl. An opening partnership of 59 between D.Freeman (32) and K.Hawkes (29)
threatened to make it a long afternoon, however young Reece Beechey and Andrew Dent made quick breakthroughs, both
catches taken by skipper Ben Leworthy. Andy Dent continued to impress on his way to 4 wickets, Shaun Jackson and Tom
Buckley both making their 1st XI debut bowled tidily without success. Ben Leworthy came back on to remove the lower
order, quick thinking by Daniel Keylock ran out their number 11 and Havering claimed maximum bowling points dismissing
Pegasus for 195.
Havering started brightly before losing Dave Keylock (16). A further 4 wickets fell and the score was 90 for 5 but an
impressive partnership between Reece Beechey and Ted Teager (24) kept Havering in with a chance and it was the
sensational Reece Beechey that continued to upstage his older brother and completed his first half century in 1st XI.
When Reece was out, Havering were wobbling but Andy Dent and Shaun Jackson put on a quick fire 23 leaving 8 runs from 8
balls required. Some good running and hitting by the two debutants resulted in Havering passing the line for a cracking
win with 2 balls to spare. Reece Beechey was out for exactly 50, Daniel Beechey 34 and Ted Teager 24 were the pick of the
batsmen.
Havering won by 1 Wkt.

Havering entertained Fyfield in a must win game for both sides and after losing the toss Havering were inserted to bat.
A slow start saw the home side at 32 for 1 from 11 overs, John French (38) and Daniel Beechey (67) put on a solid 50
partnership which built a solid foundation for a late onslaught. With 10 Overs to go Havering were 158 for 5. Daniel
Keylock began to get his eye in and when Reece Beechey joined him with 5 overs to go both batsmen set upon destruction,
Daniel finishing on 58 from 34 balls with 5 awesome sixes and Reece not out on 48. Reeces innings was particularly special
considering his 48 was from 21 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Havering finished on 275 for 7, with 113 runs coming from
the last 10 overs.

A very daunting task for the visitors who needed to win to push towards safety, Jack Houghton removed the opener and
Ben Leworthy struck to restrict Fyfield to 23 for 2. A fight back from Skipper Toby Wallden (17) and D.Shaw (32) helped
until Daniel Beechey destroyed the middle order taking 6 wickets, 3 of which were from 1 over. A last wicket stand of 27
helped the visitors to a bonus point but skipper Leworthy returned to seal the win with a caught and bowled dismissal to
secure Haverings future in division 3.
A magnificent effort considering we were second from bottom some 33 points adrift at the half way point in the season.
Havering won by 119 Runs.

Havering traveled to Belfairs Park to face league leaders Eastwood with 8 first team players absent and a mixture of
third team players and colts.
Stand in skipper Dan Beechey won the toss and elected to field first, with great opening spells from Scott Jackson and
Jack Houghton, the first wicket fell with the score on 13 as Jack had opener Keene caught at first slip. When the other
opener was run out and Danny Beechey took the third wicket with the score on 50, things looked good for Havering. But
with a stand of 138 between J. Brandon and C. Barnestone, the game started to slip from Havering. Brandon was run out
after a mix up between the two and the game turned with the score on 188 for 4. With young Houghton taking the fith
wicket with only 1 run added and his third wicket with the score on 200 Havering had managed to restrict Eastwood to 212
for 6 off their 45 overs. Jack Houghton 3-36 was the pick of the bowlers.
In reply Havering first three wickets fell with only 24 on the board. Tim Hills took the score to 60 with a much needed
30 before he was caught deep on the boundary. With the next wicket falling with only a further 2 runs things looked
gloomy for Havering with 5 wickets down for 62. When 14 year old Tom Mitchell was joined in the middle by Jack Houghton
they put on a partnership of 84 before Tom fell for 41 taking the score to 146 for 6. Jack and Shaun Bailey took the game
to the last over needing 16 but fell just eight runs short with Jack finishing unbeaten on 80.
Havering lost by 8 Runs.

Havering entertained 2nd place Hatfield Peverell II in an effort to maintain the winning run. Batting first, Havering
reached 178 all out in 43.3 overs with Mebs Raja (48), Eddie Wallace (33), Scott Jackson (27) and Danny Keylock (25) the
main contributors.
In reply, Hatfield crashed to 123 all out in 33 overs. The wickets were spread evenly. Scott Jackson took 3-27, Ben Leworthy
3-20, Danny Beechey 2-35, Luke Dyerson 2-12 and Jack Houghton 1-23.
Havering won their fifth game in a row, this time by 55 Runs.
Havering 23 points Hatfield Peverell II 5 Points
Havering travelled to Little Waltham II for a relegation battle. Havering won the toss and elected to field. After a good
opening stand, Ben Leworthy made the breakthrough and Little Waltham were 114 for 2 at drinks and were looking likely to
push on to a challenging score, however all bowlers bowled tightly and a very good spell from Luke Dyerson, his first of
the season for the first eleven pegged the hosts back. Little Waltham lost 3 wickets in Bens last over to finish on
205 for 9. Ben Leworthy 4-31 and Luke Dyerson 3-51 were the pick of the bowlers.
In reply Havering got off to a quick start before losing a couple of quick wickets, with the score on 39 for 2 from 10,
Havering could have easily wobbled, however with the spirit good and the mentality of a winning team John French (48) and
Kevin Thain (64) put on 73 for the 3rd wicket. When John was out Mebs Raja (51 not out) joined Kevin to put on a further
71 and despite a couple of wickets falling quickly, Mebs batted superbly and brought the team home with a glorious
straight drive.
Havering won their fourth game in a row, this time by 5 wickets.
Havering 23 points Little Waltham II 6 Points
Havering entertained Rayleigh Fairview without skipper Ben Leworthy, Kevin Thain took the reins and continued Haverings
fine form without their skipper. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Havering started slowly and were 37 for 2 from
the first 10 overs, stand in skipper Kevin Thain (60) continued his fine form in a gritty solid innings, he was very ably
supported by Scott Jackson (47), Michael Richardson (31 not out) and Reece Beechey (23 not out), Havering reached 239 for
6 from 45 overs.
In contrast to Havering, Fairview flew out of the traps and put on 50 for the first wicket until Scott Jackson showed his
all round ability removing the top 3 batsmen. Dan Beechey came on and took a couple of important wickets. Following a 64
run 8th wicket partnership, the game was still in the balance, however Jack Houghton bowled tight and with pace and broke
the 8th wicket partnership clearing the route for Havering to win their 3rd game on the bounce, a smart run out by Daniel
Keylock finished the game off and brought Havering home with 31 runs spare.

Havering travelled to Great Burstead on the back of a terrific win over Boreham, the home side won the toss and elected
to bat. An early wicket for Ben Leworthy started the day well, however J.Persaud (38) and J.Ely (81) put on 126 for the
2nd wicket. Wickets began to tumble as the home side reached 190 for 5 with 4 overs to spare. Havering then took 5
wickets for 8 runs. Great Burstead were all out off the last ball of the 45th over for 198. Mebs Raja 3-23, Ben Leworthy
3-29 and Michael Richardson 3-56 were the pick of the Havering bowlers.
In reply Havering started poorly and were soon 27 for 3 with Eddie Wallace, Peter Edge and Kevin Thain back in the hutch.
In came the impressive Mebs Raja and out of form Daniel Beechey. Mebs got off the mark with a six and played beautifully
for 58, Daniel Beechey found his way back to form with a classy 56. When Mebs and Danny fell within 2 overs of each other,
the score was 119/5 and in came Michael Richardson with the game was in the balance. Michael fell for 10 and Daniel and
David Keylock put on a rapid 40 runs to bring Havering home in the 33rd over and earn Ben his first league win of the
season.

Havering entertained Boreham on this blisteringly hot sunny day at Broxhill Road. Lee Rhodes was stand-in captain in the
absence of Ben Leworthy and Andrew Lazenby. Luckily, in 32 degrees of heat, Lee won the toss and elected to bat. Opening up
with Danny Beechey and John French, Danny gloved behind for 5 very qiickly followed by Peter Edge being caught and bowled
for 13 after mis-timing a pull shot.John french hit some sweet cover drives before being Harrisons third wicket, caught behind
for 25. Kevin Thain and David Keylock set about recovering the innings, until David was caught for 20. Mike Richardson then joined
Kevin, and the two set about the bowling until Kevin was bowled for a superb 93. Scott Jackson and Mike Richardson then started
to take the Boreham bowling apart until Scott was caught for 26. Mike Richardson was finally caught for a fine 54 and
Havering finished on a creditable 261 all out in 44 overs.
In reply, Boreham were 48-4 thanks to a superb opening partnership between Mike Richardson and Scott Jackson, who both
bowled fine spells of fast, aggressive bowling making the opposition jump around to avoid being struck. Mike took 3 wickets
and Scott unlucky only to take one. However, when the change bowlers came on, Saunders and Starling started a counter attach
and victory for Boreham was looking likely. Mike Richardson came back into the attack, and together with Danny Beechey, they
pegged the opposition back. Danny bowled the dangerous Starling and Havering were back in the hunt with the tail exposed.
Danny finished with 9 overs 1-66 and Mike Richardson 12 overs 4-30. Scott Jackson, Peter Edge and Kevin Stanbridge then
completed the job as Boreham came to within 20 runs victory. Peter Edge too the vital wicket of Saunders, well caught behind
bt Danny Keylock, and last man Crowcher caught skying the ball behind. Scott finished with 12 overs 2-48, Peter Edge 3.3 overs
2-31 and Kevin Stanbridge 6 overs 0-35.
A thrilling win for Havering who deserved the long overdue success.

Havering travelled to Hockley on a bright sunny day, the home side won the toss and put Havering in to bat on a very
indifferent wicket. Havering lost Dan Beechey early on and continued to struggle through the opening 20 overs. John
French (14) batted resiliently as did Lee Rhodes (10) to help keep wickets in hand for a final onslaught. Michael
Richardson (25) smashed some lusty blows, it was a partnership of 31 between Mark Butler (18n/o) and Andrew Dent that
pushed Havering up to a respectable 131 for 8 from 45 overs. The pitch certainly played its part in keeping the match a
low scoring affair with very low bounce coupled with balls that pitched on a length and flew over the batsmans head.
In reply Hockley started well, putting on 45 for the first wicket, G.Bull (36) chancing his arm and hitting 7 fours. With
the game looking like a stroll for the home side, Havering struck back and produced some fine bowling from Ben Leworthy,
Michael Richardson, Dan Beechey and Kevin Stanbridge. The home side lost 8 wickets for 57 runs and were wobbling on 102
for 8. The visitors tails were up and smelt victory, however as the luck is not in Haverings side at the moment. The 9th
wicket put on the 30 runs to win the game. A very good entertaining low scoring game that could have gone either way, the
3rd week on the trot for Havering where, with a little lady luck, they could have won! Ben Leworthy finished with figures
of 3-31 from 12 overs, Mike Richardson 2-43 from 12 overs and Kevin Stanbridge 3-18 from 8 overs.
Havering 3 points Hockley 20 Points
Havering continued the search to return to winning ways with a home tie against Pegasus & Corringham II. After losing
the toss and being put in to bat, Daniel Beechey (28) and Ben Leworthy (16) put on 47 for the first wicket. Havering lost
a couple of wickets reasonably quickly, however it was Kevin Thain (67) that was the star performer. Lee Rhodes (29) and
Andrew Dent (14) helped move the scoreboard along at the end, Havering finished 223 for 8, 2 runs short of a 4th batting
point.
In reply Craig Wilkins started brilliantly, swinging the ball a long way to have the visitors in some trouble at 36 for 3
from 11 overs. J.Pike came to the crease and batted well, despite some very very close decisions turned down by the
player umpires. Pike marshalled the team well to finish on 121 not out and bring his team home in the last over to win by
2 wickets. The game could have gone the other way very easily had the decision gone the way of the home side. A tough
defeat on Havering considering how well the team played, progress is now being made and the win is very close.
Havering 7 points Pegasus & Corringham 23 Points
Havering travelled to mid table Fyfield hoping to make amends for last weeks drubbing by Eastwood. Havering won the toss
and inserted the opposition and an excellent opening spell between Ben Leworthy and Craig Wilkins had the hosts stuttering
on 9 for 3 from 13 overs. The rain intervened and with a couple of breaks the game was reduced to 41 overs per side. The
home side were still struggling to time the ball but opener M. Ayres batted well and eventually finished unbeaten on 60.
A blistering contribution of 24 from P. Harris moved the score along to 139 all out with the main destroyer being Michael
Richardson who bagged 5 for 38. Jack Houghton also bowled well without much luck. Ben finished with figures of 3-21 from
11 and Craig 2-36 from 12.
Havering started reasonably well apart from losing Eddie Wallace (10). John French and Kevin Thain steadied the ship,
however they both fell within a couple of overs of each other on 46 for 3 from 20 overs. Dave Keylock (23) and Lee Rhodes
(20) put on 40 and put Havering in with a sniff, but they, too, fell with an over of each other leaving the visitors 90
for 5. Michael Richardson stuck some lusty blows, 24 runs from 12 balls but when Michael was out Havering needed 28 runs
from 10 overs with 4 wickets left. Despite some solid resolute batting from Jack Hurley the tail were swept away leaving
Havering perilously short again!
A much improved performance from Havering, but still more room for improvement.

Havering put out a representative side against the Essex Over 50's on this warm summers afternoon as part of the
celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary.
Captain John French won the toss and asked the Over 50's to bat first. Opening up with Scott Jackson and Reece Beechey, the
Over 50's got off to a steady start with both bowling well and the ball travelling quickly over the outfield. But a great stretching
catch over his head by Tom Mitchell off the excellent bowling of Reece Beechey, who bowled 5 overs 1-20, saw the end of ex-Havering
player Ron Montgommery for 8 with the score on 25. Scott Jackson bowled the perfect slow delivery to bowl captain Ian Gibbs as
Scott finished with 7 overs 1-31. A Partnership of 73 took the score to 119 before opener Gammon was
caught for 44 by Russell Harley off Jack Hurley. Ian Carmen went on to score freely and was unlucky not to score a century,
as he finished on 99 not out and the Over 50's on a formidable 267-5 off their 45 overs.
Wicket takers for Havering were Reece Beechey bowled 9 overs 1-47, Tom Mitchell 9 overs 1-49, Jack Hurley 7 overs 1-38
and Martin Noone 5 overs 1-22 with Atul Bhatt bowling 5 overs and Tim Richardson 3 overs.
In response, Havering opened with Martin Noone and Tim Richardson who put on 66 for the first wicket before Tim was
bowled for 21. John French and Martin then put on 97 in 12 overs with Martin being particularly brutal in his hitting. He
struck 19 fours and a six before he was caught at cover point for a superb 96. Three wickets then fell before Jack Hurley
joined his skipper, and they saw Havering home to a very good win by 5 wickets. John French finished undefeated on 67 and
Jack Hurley undefeated on 36, hitting a 6 to win the game.
H.Harvey was the pick of the Over 50s bowling taking 3 wickets for 40 in 8 overs.
On the eve of England’s first Group game Havering entertained Eastwood in an early start. Havering won the toss and
inserted the opposition which proved to be the first mistake. A Combination of some poor Havering bowling and excellent
Eastwood batting, the visitors were scoring at a healthy 5 runs per over upto the 20th over. This was then increased to
around 7 runs per over for the remaining 25 overs with J.Brandon blasting a wonderful 146. C.Barnstone chipped in with
50 and J.Squires blasted 26 from 14 balls. Eastwood finished on 327 for 6 from 45 overs.
Chasing 327 was always going to be a mammoth task. The only chance Havering had of getting close was to start well,
however this failed and Havering slumped to 24 for 4 after 6 overs. A solid partnership of 50 between Kevin Thain (29)
and Lee Rhodes (19) was the only highlight of th einnings as all other batsman failed and Havering were blown away for a
miserable 90 from 25 overs.
A poor display from Havering who where annihilated by their top of the table opponents.
Havering 3 points Eastwood 26 points
Havering travelled down the A12 past the burning car at Junction 19 and to the home of Hatfield Peverel. The home side won
the toss and inserted Havering. Havering started poorly again with Dan Beechey out in the second over. Andrew Lazenby
continued his get in and get out, edging to slip for 24. Havering then dropped to 45 for 3. A well crafted and stubborn
partnership of 100 between Kevin Thain(46) and David Keylock(59) gave Havering a platform to accelerate in the last 10
overs but a few batsman threatened to take off but got out. Havering were 183 for 9 before Ben Leworthy and Craig Wilkins
added 28 from the last 4 overs to give Havering a fighting total of 211 for 9.
The hosts started slowly and were in trouble at 26 for 2 from 10 overs. A downpour lasting 10 minutes, of which all
players gallantly battled through, created more problems to Havering as the ball stopped swinging. T. Phillips came in at
4 and was the main difference between the teams with his 91 not out taking the game away from Havering. E.Moore came to
the crease when the score was 103 for 4 and smashed 52. This partnership of 92 all but saw the hosts home.
A very good game of cricket that was contested right up to the final part of the game, there were some positives but
still a few improvements needed.

Havering entertained Little Waltham in a bottom versus second from bottom early season clash. The visitors won the toss
and unsurprisingly inserted the home side. 3 balls were possible before the heavens opened, an hour and fifty minutes
delay meant the teams resumed at 15.30 for a 30 overs per side contest. Havering climbed on top with some destructive
batting by Andrew Lazenby (45), Andrew was joined by Peter Edge who started well and continued his fine form from last
week to hit a fine 61. Once Andrew was out, Dave Keylock joined Peter, desperate for some form. Dave batted superbly
striking 6 fours and 2 sixes in his 58. Havering eventually finished their 30 overs on 215 for 4.
Little Waltham required 7 runs per over from their 30 overs, after 10 overs the visitors were 43 for 1, Craig Wilkins
taking the wicket. In came M.Hudson, who took the challenge on, taking Lee Pottle for 15 off his last over and 26 from
Ben Leworthys 2 overs. The game was finely balanced at 82 for 1 from 14 overs. Daniel Beechey was brought into the
attack and took 2 wickets in his first over. Scott Jackson was brought on the other end and bowled fast and accurate to
a well set Havering plan, Scott removed the dangerous Hudson for a crashing 51 from 38 balls. The game was temporarily
delayed whilst batsman Coyle left the field due to a light rain shower, after much deliberation the batsman returned only
to be cleaned up by Jackson. Little Waltham needed 94 from 9.2 overs with 5 wickets left when the heavens opened even
heavier and the teams decided enough was enough.
r
The game was abandoned in a finely poised position, the second time in 5 games for Havering.

The sun was shining as Havering travelled to Rayleigh for the 4th match in Division 3. After winning the toss, Havering
elected to field. After a fairly wayward start, Michael Richardson made the first breakthrough; Ben Leworthy then
chipped in with a wicket before Andrew Lazenby was the star of the show again with the ball, Andy taking a wicket with
his first ball and then continued bowling extremely well finishing with figures of 6-43 from his 9 overs, Ben Leworthy
1-18 and Michael Richardson 1-19 also took wickets as Fairview finished on 189-8 in their 45 overs.
In reply, Havering started well with 13 coming from the first 2 overs, however once the opening bowling of Lawson and
Osborne found their line and length they were both quick and extremely accurate, Havering were 34 for 5 from 15 overs.
Peter Edge was batting solidly and when Ben Leworthy joined him, they batted for 13 overs pushing the score up to 91 for
6 when Peter was out LBW for 56. Ben was then joined by Michael Richardson who hit 2 fours and a six from his first 4
balls. When Ben was out for 23, Michael continued hitting well and was eventually the last man out for 56. Havering were
all out for 171.

Havering were back in action again following last weeks defeat. Havering Captain Ben Leworthy was missing and therefore
Vice-Captain Andrew Lazenby took the reigns, Andrew won the toss and inserted the opposition. Great Burstead started
steadily until Lee Pottle struck with the new ball in the 7th over with the score on 23. A solid partnership was taking
Great Burstead along nicely until Scott Jackson removed the other opener. Havering then began to get on top with Michael
Richardson and Andrew Lazenby destroying the middle order. Great Burstead collapsed to 148 for 9 before L.Smith (14*)
and Asward (22) put on 38 for the last wicket before Dan Beechey wrapped things up with a Caught and Bowled. Michael
Richardson 3-29, Andrew Lazenby 3-32 and Lee Pottle 2-32 were the pick of the bowlers. Havering was set 187 to win.
The day threatened to turn sour when Kevin Thain (0) was out in the first over with the score on 1. However, the
impressive stand in Captain Andrew Lazenby (40), together with Danny Beechey (41), put on 90 for the second wicket putting Havering
back in the driving seat. However when they both fell in quick succession, Havering then began to wobble losing 3 wickets
for 24 runs. 120 for 5 was beginning to look concerning but Peter Edge remained calm and with the help of Michael
Richardson (17) and Scott Jackson (11n/o) Peter Edge carried his bat through to see the game won and finished unbeaten on
39.

Havering made the trip along the A12 to Boreham on a wet cold afternoon. The game was restricted to 35 overs per innings
of which Boreham won the toss and put Havering into bat. Belleheue and Harrison opened for the home side and had the
visitors in trouble after the first 10 overs, 27 for 2. Havering continued to struggle in very friendly bowling conditions,
the visitors were 47 for 4 from 20 overs. Kevin Thain (54) was the hero with a wonderfully crafted innings, Adam Murray
(17) and Scott Jackson (15 not out) helped the visitors to a below par 114 for 7.
Boreham started with 3 fours from the first over, Ben Leworthy got the opening wicket, however it was the impressive
C.Harrison that was the main difference between the teams, Harrisons 69 was a defining innings that ensured the home side
won by 7 wickets. Dave Joffe removed Harrison but it was too little too late. Scott Jackson also took a wicket finishing
with figures of 1-2, Dave Joffe 1-21 and Ben Leworthy 1-23.
A disappointing performance from Havering.

The start of the T-Rippon Cricket season brought Hockley to Broxhill Road.
Havering won the toss and put the visitors into bat on a wet spongy wicket. Havering opened up with Craig Wilkins and Ben
Leworthy and the visitors were restricted to 28-2 from the first 12 overs with Ben taking both wickets. Havering continued
to stay on top with some tight bowling and taking wickets at important times, especially from Jack Hurley who took 3
wickets. Scott Jackson and Craig chipped in with a wicket apiece before Andrew Lazenby finished the innings off with some
accurate spin bowling. Hockley were all out for 122, Ben Leworthy 3-14, Jack Hurley 3-35.
In Reply, Havering started well before Kevin Thain (10) was out. Daniel Beechey (32) and Andrew Lazenby (30) were pushing
Havering to a well deserved victory until the heavens began to open, both teams battled through for around an hour of
which Havering lost a further 4 wickets all trying desperately to push the score along. Both Captains agreed at 6.13pm
that enough was enough as the heavens opened further making it near impossible for the bowlers to run in, Havering
finished on 112-7 just 11 runs short of a well deserved victory as the game was abandoned.

Another bright sunny day dawned with Havering travelling to the beautiful countryside to play High Roding, a Premier
Division team some 30 places above Havering in the league structure. Captained by Mel Hussain, the brother of former
England Test Captain Nasser, High Roding won the toss and elected to bat first. Craig Wilkins and Ben Leworthy opened the
bowling and struck quickly removing 3 wickets within the first 10 overs leaving the home side on 17-3, Ben taking the
prize scalp of Mel Hussain caught behind by Mark Butler. Havering continued to show their potential restricting the home
side further to 82 for 6, by this time Daniel Beechey had taken up the attack taking 3 wickets. Enter Messers Richardson
and Gallup for the home side, who put on just under 100. M.Richardson scoring 116 showing some fantastic shots through
mid wicket. High Roding finished on 247 all out, Dan Beechey taking 3-28, Ben Leworthy 2-13, Craig Wilkins 2-65 and
Tom Moffatt 2-60.
In reply, Havering started well with Dan Beechey and Peter Edge putting on 67 for the first wicket, Peter making 26.
Havering lost a couple of quick wickets and found themselves on 99-4, Dan Beechey making an impressive 52. Havering
continued to struggle and only David Keylock (43) made a further contribution. Havering ended up 56 runs short of their
target.
A very impressive display from the Division 3 side against their Premier division counterparts, all plans are now
complete for the first league fixture against Hockley on Saturday.
On a bright sunny first afternoon of the cricket season, Havering played host to Noak Hill for a friendly.
Noak Hill won the toss and elected to bat first. Havering openers bowled well with Craig Wilkins taking 2 early wickets
leaving the visitors on 21-2 off 11 overs. Michael Richardson and Lee Pottle took over and both bowled tidily. Scott
Jackson and Jack Houghton then replaced them and it was Scott that was the hero bowling the lower order out, Scott
finished with figures of 5 for 19 off 7.3 overs. Coincidentally all wickets Havering took were bowled.
In reply, Havering started well with Tim Richardson (20) and David Keylock (10) put on 32 for the first wicket, a minor
collapse resulted in Havering being restricted to 47 for 3, the home side then staggered to 97 for 5 when Mark Butler
(21) was caught. This brought Ben Leworthy and Scott Jackson to the crease and after some early season rustiness both
Ben and Scott found some form hitting fours and sixes to win the game by 5 wickets. Havering finished on 166 for 5 and
both Ben and Scott were unbeaten on 34.
A good start for Ben Leworthy in his first game as Club Captain and Havering commencing their 150th year in style.
